(1755 - 1816) American military officer who served as an aide to Washington, Lafayette and Sullivan, wounded at Harlem Heights, and was the son-in-law of President John Adams. Manuscript D.S. as Port Surveyor, 2pp. 8vo., [n.p.], Sep. 11, 1801, a "Return of Merchandize unpaid" on the vessel Volunteer, including rum and sugar, boldly signed adding "Accepted" on verso. Very good.
