In the present work, Leigh created a dramatic depiction of a blind Hopi girl retrieving fresh water, drawing upon pictorial conventions from his academic training. A lone figure is shown against a vast, open landscape evoking both a sense of isolation and grandeur. The artist gave this painting to Dr. H.G. Tonkin, as a token of his heartfelt gratitude for the medical care the doctor had given his ill mother. Condition Report: Very sliight abrasion on right edge of image marked from previous frame.

Shipping: Requires 3rd Party Shipping (view shipping information)
