“End-of-the-day dance, somewhere in Brooklyn. The light was going. I used a slow shutter speed, a 1?15th or 1?8th of a second. This was towards the beginning of my photographic adventure. The viewfinder was sharp and non-committal. I doubt whether I knew what I’d be getting. It was only the day after that I discovered what the blur would contribute. Accident, error, luck. From then on, I knew. This photo became, and remained, one of my favorites" (William Klein, NEW YORK, 1954-1955, PARIS, Marval, 1995, p. 11).
