(1765 - 1837) King of England who resisted a halt to the slave trade, and was the last king to attempt to force a Prime Minister on Parliament. Partly-printed D.S. "William R" as King, 1p. sm. folio, Windsor Palace, Apr. 6, 1831, the appointment of George Cochrane to serve as Captain in the Ceylon Rifle Regiment. Boldly signed at top (one letter slightly blurred), co-signed by Prime Minister JOHN FREDERICK ROBINSON and the Secretary of War. Folds, light soiling, still very good. Sold with an unrelated hand-colored octavo engraved map of the battle of Waterloo, ca. 1850 (a few splits). Two pieces.
