WILLIAM IV
(1765 - 1837) King of England who resisted a halt to the slave trade, and was the last king to attempt to force a Prime Minister on Parliament. Partly-printed D.S., 2pp. sm. folio, Court of St. James, June 26, 1835. The King forwards to Charles, Duke of Richmon an order that certain officers' commission be thereafter signed by the king's "Lieutenants", with Charles to represent the County of Sussex. Co-signed by Prime Minister JOHN RUSSELL (1792-1878) at bottom. Slight toning and fold wear aelse very good, with a huge signature by the king.
