WILLIAM IV: (1765 - 1837) King of England who resisted a halt to the slave trade, and was the last king to attempt to force a Prime Minister on Parliament. Fine content A.L.S. "William" 1p. 4to., St. James, Aug. 4, 1791, to a gentleman, recalling his involvement in the American Revolution. In part: "...Having formerly had the pleasure during the American war of being acquainted with you, permit me on this occasion to renew it...". William entered the navy as a midshipman in 1779 at the tender age of 13, and served in the Americas and West Indies during the War. Boldly written, and handsomely matted with a portrait engraving and biographical plaque. Framed in a regal gilt frame. In very good condition, unexamined out of frame. $200-300
