"...I cannot lay my hand on Mr [Jay] Gould's letter, think it must be destroyed. I told Mr Dunilland to call on you and fix the matter...Dunilland is in Buffalo. I wish you would see him. My understanding is with Mr Gould that your Company, Union St Bt Co do the lower lake business west bound for both N[ew] Y[ork] Central & Erie R[ail] R[oa]ds, and that you divide the eastbound business in same proportion as it was delivered by the two lines of boats on lower lakes last year, neither of the R Rds being at expense of agencies at Lake Erie ports.
