In part, "...Many thanks for your reminiscences. So far as they go, they confirm my own recollection, and will be of great aid to me in making report to Colonel [John B] Bachelder of our movements at Gettysburg...a report including our movements from the time we left Fairfax would be very interesting, but I do not understand that that would be within the scope of Col B's request. The same movements from a Confederate standpoint have been written out by Major McClellan, Adjt Gen to Gen J.E.B. Stuart, who by the way was at the last Reunion...denying that our regiment captured a cannon...It is a pity some one does not write the history of our Cavalry..." VG. $200-300
