July 12, 1860-Dated Civil War period, Autograph Quotation Signed, “Wm Cullen Bryant.” 1 page, 6.75” x 8.75”, no place, Choice Extremely Fine. Here, Bryant has penned a verse from his poem titled “Consumption.” Clearly written and boldly signed in deep brown ink upon clean period wove paper. Extremely nice for display, it reads, in full;

“Glide softly to thy rest, then; Death should come

Gently to one of gentle mould like thee,

As light winds wandering through groves of bloom

Detach the delicate blossom from the tree.

July 12th 1860. --- Wm Cullen Bryant.”
