WHITEY WITT
(1895-1988) Early baseball star who played for ten seasons with the Philadelphia Athletics, Yankees and Brooklyn Robins. A lot of three brief A.Ls.S. each on both sides of a 3x5 card ca. 1977. The cards are stapled together at top left corner and are each addressed to Pat. One reads, in part: "...Are you going to the Yankees opening Thursday? I sure would like to see some of the Old Times again before it's too late. Sharpley [?], Joe Dugan, Musel [sic] Bob or any of the rest and of course you. We all played in the 20's. The new stadium must be great...". The other letters bear similar content with mention of players such as Pee Wee Reese and so forth. Three pieces, very good. Along with a vintage "Chicago Tribune Pocket Scorer", a credit card-sized plastic card with wheels for recording runs, hits and so forth, ca. 1950s-1960s.

Estimate: $150 - 200.
