Late 19th-early 20th century. Carved softwood whimsey of snowman wearing a top hat, sitting on a ball-in-cage. Original white paint. 4 1/2"h. Ex Jeannine Dobbs (New Hampshire) and a circus elephant pipsqueak. 3 1/2"h. Ex Betty Berdan (Maine), ex Bernard Barenholtz, sold at Sotheby's (New York), January 1990, lot 1630.
