The walrus ivory knob handle on this cane is rounded on the top, and octagonal on the sides. It is 2" high and 1.25"in diameter, and has a .5" silver disk set in the top of the knob. The narrow, .25", silver collar joins the knob to awhalebone shaft. The single-piece shaft is octagonal on the top half, round on the bottom half, with each side of theoctagon carved in a scalloped pattern at the beginning of the round part, and there are silver eyelets about 3" fromthe top. The brass ferrule is 1.75" long. The silver collar has separated at the solder and there are minor dryingcracks in the ivory. Overall length, 31". A fine example!(EST 400-600)
