(1892 - 1988) American film actress, a sultry, flirtatious, and controversial star of her time. Most important D.S. signed "Mae West" twice and initialed once, 3pp. legal folio, New York, Apr. 29, 1932 in which West agrees to give her manager Mark Linder one-half of all fees and royalties she receives from the performance of her play "Diamond Lil", and further gives Linder exclusive rights to the play's presentation worldwide. Folds and light soiling, overall very good. This, essentially, is the contract that launched West's career - one month later the play opened in New York starring West as the sultry lead. She quickly became the toast of Broadway, and in 1932 West was signed by Paramount. Indeed, her first leading role was in "She Done Him Wrong", a screen adaptation of "Diamond Lil". West was the author and sultry star of the Broadway play "Diamond Lil", and the production proved so succesful that in 1932, the year of this contract, West was signed by Paramount.
