No. 4 EJECTOR GAME GUN. Cal. 12 Ga., 2 3/4". S# 340 (bottom of action) / 82278 (breech face). Bbls. 27 1/2" Chopperlump, fitted w/ sunken matted top rib. Manufacturers name & address are on side of right bbl. & patent information is on left. Bbl. flats are stamped w/ French smokeless powder proofs for 2 3/4" chambers & 5 palms. Unusual dbl. spring ejector system is fitted to bottom. Round bodied trigger plate type action w/ rising bite locking system & lever at rear of trigger guard which opens & cocks action also features loaded chamber indicators, dbl. triggers & ambidextrous sliding safety on trigger plate. Action is engraved w/ about 60% coverage large shaded scroll within line borders. S# is on bottom. "IDEAL" is deeply stamped in cartouche in front of trigger plate. Fences are deep relief carved w/ open acanthus scroll. Straight grip buttstock of lightly streaked European walnut measures 14 7/8" over "Silver" type pad. Skipline checkering is at grip & toeline is fitted w/ retractable leather sling. Long splinter forend fitted w/ ejector trips has Anson type release. MEASUREMENTS: BBLS: Bore Diameter: R .717", L .717". Restriction: R .023" (MOD), L .040" (EXTRA FULL). Min. Wall Thickness: R .030", L .030". STOCK: DAH: 2 13/16". DAC: 1 3/8+". LOP: 14 7/8". CAST: 5/8" off. WEIGHT: 7 lb. 2 oz. CONDITION: very fine, mostly original. Bbls. retaining nearly all of a good quality reblue over a few light marks. Action retaining 60-70% original case hardening color. Stocks retain most of what appears to be a light oil refinish over some minor marks. Checkering has not been recut. Bores are bright & shiny w/ some minor striations at breech ends & a very minor, almost invisible ping in left bbl. Action is tight. Bbls. are on face. Ejectors are strong & in time. An exceptionally fine example of this fairly scarce gun. (22-4498/MGM). CURIO. $2,000-3,000.
