Beautiful antique Wedgwood jasperware pitcher or jug with cover
stamped
Real Sheffield, as shown in photo.
<p>Real Sheffield is silverplate made by a mechanical process,
not the electrico-chemical process of most silverplate. It is much
older and quite rare to have an item stamped - Real Sheffield.
<p>This cover has a cockle shell molded in it and a thumblift
with white button.
<p>The jug, either a milk or possibly a syrup pitcher, is blue dip
jasperware
with cameo like reliefs depicting Eros and preistesses making
sacrifices. Laurel and grapevine wreaths. Twisted handle.
<p>Stamped Wedgwood /34 on underside as shown
in photo.<p>Circa 19th C.
<p>Measures 5-1/4 inches handle-to-spout, 4 inches
diameter, 7 overall height.
<p>Very Good to excellent overall condition. Some tight stress
marks at handle and spout. No other cracks, dings, breaks or
repairs.
