<td width="100%">
This is a beautiful blue and white transfer ware plate. It was made by Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Etruria, England and Richard Briggs Co., Boston for the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of Incorporation of Malden, Mass. of 1899. The plate shows the roman numerals of MDCXXXIX - MDCCCXCIX (1649-1899) at the top in a banner. On the bottom is "Upon the petition of Mistick Side men, they are granted to be a distinct towne, & the name thereof to be called Mauldon" in the Commenwelth of Massachusetts. Mauldon is spelled differently on the back of the plate. The border of the plate is done in a very busy scroll work with several seals and pictures of the area. In addition to the Wedgwood and Briggs names printed in blue on the back, there are the impressed name of Wedgwood and two other that I assume are date stamps. The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, flakes or cracks.
