Wedgwood black basalt jug / pitcher depicting the emblems of the nations of the British Isles. England Scotland Wales Ireland. Made in England late 18th -early 19th century.<BR>Measures 4 1/2inches high.<BR>Classic form. Moulded in relief with scrolling foliage forming reserves containing the four National emblems of the British Isles: the clover, the thistle the rose and a lyre-playing angel (should this be a daffodil?) flanking a flowering plant in the center, under the spout. Below, is a band of beautifully moulded acanthus foliage and above is a band of gadrooning. <BR>Impressed marks underneath Wedgwood and 36.<BR>Excellent condition: no chips/cracks/damage of any sort.
