Cal. 455. S# 102553. Bbl. 2 9/16". R.I.C. M/83 double action revolver mfg. by Webley & Scott, likely in the late 1920s to the early 1930s. Left side of the top strap is stamped "WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD. BIRMINGHAM", with "MADE IN ENGLAND" marked on the right. Left side of the frame is marked "455", and "WEBLEY'S/ R.I.C/ MODEL /83/ 5 SHOT" above the Webley & Scott winged bullet logo and S#. Frame, cyl., and bbl. exhibit British proofs. Metal components exhibit a blue finish, with the cyl. base pin, ejector rod assembly, trigger, and hammer being polished in-the-white. Frame is mounted with a 1-piece checkered wood wrap around grip and features a lanyard swivel & ring on the butt. German silver half-moon blade front sight with frame notched rear sight. Cyl. and bbl. are matching via "553". Loading gate and ejector rod swivel are matching via "3". Cyl. base pin appears to be stamped "76". CONDITION: metal components retain the majority of their original factory blue finish, showing some light edge wear, some superficial handling marks, as well as some scattered spots of light surface oxidation and pitting. In-the-white parts show some small scattered spots of age related discoloration. Mirror bore, exhibiting some spots of hardened grease, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics, although the hammer needs to be pulled completely rearward before locking in the cocked position. Grip shows scattered marks and impressions from handling and storage, but otherwise remains sound. (25-5062/MLW). CURIO. $400-600.
