Walt Gonske studied in New York at The Frank Reilly School of Art in the mid-sixties and moved out to Taos, NM, in early 1972. He was a founding
member of "The Taos Six". In 1979 he was voted in as member of the National Academy of Western Art at the Cowboy Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City, OK.
The spring annual show has since been renamed the "Prix de West Invitational". Over the years Walt has won both silver and gold medals in oil. In 2006
he was one of six artists featured at the Gilcrease Museum Rendezvous Exhibition. Two of his works hang in their permanent collection. Walt also has work
in the Eiteljorg Collection in Indianapolis, IN. Selected publications which include his works are: "Erivan & Helga Haub Family Collection of Western Art"
Volumes I and II by Christine Mollring and "Landscapes of New Mexico" by Susan Campbell and Suzanne Deats. Walt Gonske is represented by Claggett-
