This is an original hand crafted percussion muff pistol or derringer pocket pistol made by W. Pether of Oxford England circa 1850. The pistol has a .32 caliber. The piece is wonderfully hand etched across the entire piece. This is marked on the right side, "Pether" and the right, "Oxford". The back of the wood grips shows a sterling silver plaque that has not been engraved. The pistol has a threaded screw off barrel and works flawlessly. The safety is chipped. Exceptionally rare derringer muff pistol. Most hand guns from this era were dueling pistols, with the smaller muff pistol being a high class purchase. Overall measures 4 5/8"L. NO FFL.
