W.F. Sheard marked Winchester Model 1894 Lever Action Rifle, #186807, .25-35 W.C.F. cal., 26'' nickel steel octagon barrel, blue finish, straight grip walnut stock, crescent steel buttplate, dovetailed front sight with brass top edge, and sporting elevator rear sight. Left side of receiver is marked in small letters ''FROM. W.F. SHEARD / TACOMA, WASH''. Barrel with two-line ''August 21, 1894'' patent date address and is additionally marked in between the rear sight and receiver ''25-35 W.C.F.''; left side below the rear sight reads ''NICKEL STEEL BARREL / ESPECIALLY FOR SMOKELESS POWDER''. Mfg'd 1900. Condition is good overall. Barrel is a combination darkened blue and brown patina with the magazine tube retaining a majority of its blue finish. Receiver and buttplate have worn to a mostly silvery gray with some darker spotting; a small amount of blue remains in some of the protected areas. Barrel address and other factory lettering is clear. Top upper tang screw is missing; buttstock is a little loose. Wood shows general shallow scratches and wear consistent with the overall condition of the rifle; right side of forend near the forend cap is chipped. Action is crisp. Dark bore is lightly frosted with very good rifling. Est.: $900-$1,400. (C&R)
