In part: “I remember driving Overlan[d] to Belen when Jim Turner was leading the band, and we would all get our share of liquor whether we needed it or not, then, finally I would take the band over and Jim played for me…I remember a certain gentleman at Marks, coming to the train to kill me because he had cancelled an engagement that I held three months and I wrote him that caused me to lose money and I thought he should pay some of the bill…It is true that I got the idea of writing ‘Yellow Dog Blues’ at Tutwiler listening to a guitarist singing, ‘He’s Gone Where the Southern ‘Cross The Dog…‘The Memphis Blues’ was my first Blues; ‘Saint Louis Blues’ second.” In very good condition, with light brushing to signature, scattered toning and soiling, and staple holes to top left. Pre-certified PSA/DNA and RRAuction COA.
