TLS, one page, 7.25 x 10.5, Charles Beyer letterhead, April 25, 1931. Talent agent Charles Beyer presented this typed contract in letter form to W. C. Fields, who in turn penned modifications to the text and signed the agreement. Letter reads in part (with Fields's annotations in parentheses): "I hereby agree to pay you ten per cent…of my salaries and percentages (on engagement referred to below) if you procure an engagement for me with RKO for one or more pictures…at a salary of $25,000.00 a picture or $20,000.00 a picture and an agreed percentage or in any other deal I should see fit to make with RKO (if consummated within three weeks from this date). I further agree to pay you ten percent…commission on any further contracts (with this above mentioned Co. R.K.O.) if I continue or renew with this company.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and some light creasing.
