Conflict became inevitable after the Governor General, Lord Ellenborough, was replaced by Lord Hardinge in July 1844. Major George Broadfoot, an aggressive warmonger, was then appointed political agent on the Punjab frontier. The war finally erupted in December 1845. This account of Major Broadfoot's career was based on the papers of all three military figures.

Shipping: Books & Catalogs (view shipping information)
