Triangular metal preflight tag removed from a Vostok-2M (8A92M) rocket prior to its launch from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on April 20, 1988, 1.25˝ x 2˝, with the front and back engraved: “8A92M, W15000-78” and “108.” In fine condition.

This tag was attached to an element of the Vostok 2M rocket during prelaunch preparations and was removed shortly before launch. On this date, the Vostok 2M served as the launch vehicle for the Cosmos 1939, the fifth satellite in the Resurs-O1 series and the first to become operational. The Cosmos 1939/Resurs-O1 spacecraft was similar to the USA Landsat series and was designed to provide data for geologic applications, cartography, fire detection, ice monitoring, agriculture, and hydrology.
