Volcanic carbine with 16 ½” barrel remaining in very good plus to near fine original condition showing one line “New Haven, Conn., patent February 14th , 1854” address. The barrel shows 30% to 50% original blue starting to tone and agenaturally with some scattered light to moderate erosion and surface pitting of which most occurs on the right side of the barrel about 6” back from the turning piece. The edges are crisp and the address is fully legible. The frame is also sharpand with tight fit to the side plates and a medium patina. The hammer and lever show considerable original finish. The rear sight is a V notch type mounted directly behind the ejection port with a German silver blade front sight. The stock is near fine with 90% to 95% original varnish showing some very minor scratches and slight handling only. The action works well and the bore is bright. The carbine has a very attractive appearance and is completely original. There is anumber “19” stamped just behind the lifter.
