Volcanic .41 caliber lever-action large frame repeating pistol, blue with traces of silver finish, ivory grips, serial #912. The barrel shows “Volcanic Repeating Arms Co. Pat. New Haven 1854” on barrel. Approx. 75-85% original blue that is drifting slightly at the edges with just beginning light erosion and normal wear. The pin at the front of the magazine tube is missing. The magazine follower is an old hand-made replacement. The frame is beautifully and deluxe engraved with floral scrolls and roses with checkerboard background, similar to Henry rifles. The pistol is fitted with fine original ivory grips that show some minor yellowing, slight age cracks, normal aging, but are very good plus overall and definitely original to this pistol. The small parts show bright original blue including sight and bolt. The hammer and lever show considerable mottled case hardening within their patina, at least 30%. The frame is sharp and completely uncleaned. There has been a repair to the firing pin and forward portion of the bolt. The bore is near excellent. A beautiful large-frame Volcanic with crisp edges and an absolutely beautiful frame. Est: $50,000-80,000.
