Representation of a four-armed deity with an appealing patina

This four-armed Vishnu bronze figure was created during the Angkor period in Cambodia and is one of the most important gods of Hinduism. Vishnu stands in the upright samabhanga position with his feet facing forward. In his left hand he holds a stick, which extends to the ground, and in the open right hand a small bowl. The rear arms are lifted over the shoulder holding further attributes. The deity wears a garment, which is finely chased in relief and adorned with floral decorations. The face has a meditative expression with distinctive features. His long earlobes reach down to his shoulders and underline Vishnu’s grace. The head is adorned by a crown with a pointed usnisha. The beautiful distinctive malachite patina gives the figure a particular aesthetic. It stands on a modern pedestal.

The bronze figure is in visually good condition with age related signs of wear and traces of restoration all around. The height without base is 24.5 cm, the width 8.5 cm and the depth 5.5 cm. The total heights measures 32 cm.
