1) A 3.75” by 6.5” softbound booklet with gold embossing on the cover: “Virginia and Truckee/ Railway/ Rules and Regulations/ for the/ Maintenance of Way and Structures/ Effective April 17, 1911” and with no markings on the spine or back cover. The interior front cover board is printed “No. 154/ This Book is the Property/ of the/ Virginia and Truckee/ Railway/ and is Loaned to/” and hand signed “J.M. Dority”. Yellowed pages, no tears or holes. 2) An unopened “Pack-O-Tick” of 200 “Virginia & Truckee Railway” tickets. The 1.25” by 2.25” tickets are marked “Gold Hill/ to/ Reno” and are numbered. The box is printed “Pack-O-Tick/ Trade Mark Registered/ Poole Bros./ Seal/ Ticket Department/ Chicago/ This/ Pack-O-Tick/ Contains 200 Tickets/ Do Not Break Seal/ Until Necessary to/ Re-Stock Case./ Patented July 5th, 1921” on the front. The reverse is printed “To Ticket Agent/ To Open, Cut on Line Below Carton Then/ Forms a Covered Box and May be Used to/ Retain Tickets Not Transferred to Case.” The box is secured with the three original staples on the rear. There is a small tear in the cardboard beneath the middle staple, and two small tears on one end of the box. The box is aged and bears several small stains. The Virginia & Truckee Railroad was chartered 11 February 1869, opened 1 January 1870, and then sold to the Virginia & Truckee Railway on 1 July 1905. - Jacobitz Collection -59774
