Virginia. Series of May 4, 1778. Treasury of Virginia. Act of Assembly. Ten Spanish Milled Dollars. Fr. VA-After 1865. PCGS Choice Very Fine-35. No qualifiers. As illustrated.

Description: White woven paper. No serial number. No plate letters. Date as 177-. Unsigned. Printer uncertain. Uniface. 121mm by 85mm. A beauty! The lightly toned paper offers wide margins around the incomplete heavy black printing. Some petty foxing, otherwise pristine. A note with a history behind it. Printed privately from the seized and partly broken plates that were evacuated from Richmond during the Civil War. Choice VF-35, even without the qualifiers, seems a trifle shy of this note’s actual grade, but we won’t argue with the experts. Undeniably beautiful, and undeniably rare!
