Virginia Manufactory 2nd model flintlock pistol marked “Virginia” at the center portion of lock and “Richmond 1812” behind hammer. The pistol is in .54 caliber with attached swivel ramrod and measures approximately 15 ½” overall. 1 of onlyapproximately 4,252 made (Refer Flayderman 6B – 060). The pistol is a very good reconversion from percussion back to flintlock showing well-made hammer and small parts that have been professionally colored and aged. The stock is ingood condition with some small losses around the lock area, one large chip in front of the lock area and a large chip missing by the strap of butt cap on the right. The original rammer and swivel are un-cleaned and rough condition showing nocleaning. The wood shows some stress cracks and other small imperfections. A few screws are replaced. A rare secondary Martial pistol that was probably reconverted before collectors realized the significance of percussion conversions beingConfederate issued arms. The collection of William A.
