Lot of 4. 1&2) Associated with the Summit Mill. Both have signatures of owner Mason. Mill was located in the north part of Virginia City and ran from 1862 to 1870. 3) Empire Mining Company signed by supt Graves. From 1859 to 1876 the mine made roughly $3,500,000 and paid $500,000 in dividends. 4) Check from McLaughlin & Root. The 1864 VC directory says, "McLaughlin & Root, Hardware merchants, have put up and finished a substantial brick building, four stories high, having fronts both on B and C streets ; the ground and second floors are occupied by the firm for sales-room and workshops, and the two upper stories is occupied as offices and sleeping rooms."
