Virginia City, Nevada. Storey County. Comstock Mining District. Incorporated under the laws of the State of Nevada, December 17, 1932. Certificates framed (23), each dated 1933 to 1936. Signed by A.C. Rulopau as President and J.L. Dobbins as Secretary. Vignette at center top is mill on a river’s edge, flanked by two smaller vignettes of underground mining scenes. Black print and border on green paper. Gold embossed seal at bottom left with brown safety print. Approx. 4 x 9". All certificates cancelled with rubber stamp and punch holes. The Con Virginia produced $63 million in gold and silver bullion through 1934, second only to that of the neighboring California Mine. The Con. Virginia & Andes company was a late venture attempting to mine near surface low grade ores left behind from earlier mining periods. A modern version of one of the most successful stocks on the Comstock. Very fine.
