Lot of four. 1)Alta Silver Mining Company. Stock measures 9 ½’’x 4’’. Incorporated May 14, 1872 in the state of California. Stock no. 22327 issued to J.R. Hofer Jr. for 100 shares on March 5th, 1884. Signed by President W.F. Myers and Secretary William A. Watson. Vignette of two small quails located on the bottom edge in the center. Black border and print. Five creases appear on the stock from being folded. Right corner is darkened slightly. Pin sized cancelation marks appear on the left side near the company’s seal. Another hole punch is present on the left side, it of the number “100” in-between two stars. Pink writing appears on the stock both front and back. Both read “sold for assessment #31.” 2) West Potosi Mining Co. Measures 8 ¾’’ x 4’’. Incorporated December 22, 1886 in the state of California. Stock no. 562, issued Hofer Trustee for 100 shares on May 24, 1887. Signed by President Thomas Cole and Secretary R.R. Grayson. Vignette of two miners looking at a find in a mine is located on the upper left corner. Black border and print. Two creases are on the stock from being folded and the bottom right edge is worn slightly. Several pin size cancelation holes appear on the left side. 3) East Sierra Nevada Mining Co. Measures 10 ¼’’x 4’’. Incorporated May 7, 1889 in the state of California. Stock no. 270 issued to George R. Spinny Trustee for 50 shares on May 21, 1889. Signed by President C. Hursefer and Secretary George R. Spinny. Black border and print. Several creases appear on the stock from being folded. Several pin size cancelation holes appear on the left side and on the upper center of the stock. Water marks appear on the top edge and left corner. Both top and bottom corners are worn slightly. 4) Empire State Silver Mining Company. Measures 9 ¼’’x 4 ¼’’. Incorporated November 11, 1878 in the state of California. Stock no. 107 issued to Joseph E. Smiley Jr. for 100 shares on November 22, 1878. Signed by President Joseph E. Smiley and Secretary T.J. Stewart. Located in the upper left corner, a vignette of two women in Greek attire sit back to back with an eagle in-between them. The women sit with a sunrise and three ships behind them and the word “excelsior” Latin for “ever higher.” Black border and print. Top left and right corners are slightly bent. Very slight creases appears on the top right corner.
