Virginia Button Hatpin With Provenance, Stonewall Jackson's 5.5” long, made from a three-piece state seal button having the pre-war backmark of the well-known Richmond firm Mitchell & Tyler. The shank of this button was removed with a long steel pin being soldered in its place. An accompanying typed card shows light aging and states that the button is “…from the Richard D. Steuart Collection…supposedly from the uniform coat of 'Stonewall Jackson'.” The button has excellent old toning and is free of pushes or dents. Its former owner, Richard D.
