This wonderful character Toby pitcher, features the full figure of an eighteenth century gentleman about to enjoy some snuff. Attired in cobalt blue jacket, tan figured vest, white shirt and rust trousers and white w/blue three-corner hat. Copper lustre highlights on jacket and hat. In his left hand he holds a tin of snuff, of which he is about to take a pinch. The pitcher stands an impressive 9 1/2" in height. Stamped in black "Allertons Est. 1831 - Made In England"; this mark was first used in 1912. There are no cracks or chips; there are several areas of paint flaking on the man's trousers which has been colored over in the past; have to examine to find the spots. Nice large Toby jug.
