A poster, measuring approx. 24.5 x 38 inches, of "Royal Mail Lines" by Padden, advertising "Sunshine Cruises " on S.S. Atlantis, showing the ship and an Arab seller of jewelry. Atlantis was built in 1913 as "Andes" and served with the Royal Mail Lines on their cruises to South America. In World War I she served as an auxiliary cruiser. In 1930 she was modified for cruising and renamed "Atlantis". In World War II she served as a hospital ship, and after WWII as an emigrant carrier, until broken up in Scotland in 1952. Poster, dating from 1930's was purchased in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. From a collection of maritime and nautical ephemera collected over a lifetime by a former Dutch diplomat. Please note that all of our posters, prints, pochoirs and ephemera are original, non-reproduction, vintage works of art.
