Vintage Navajo Natural Dyes Textile. This stiking rug is crytal vegatable dyed. Mineral crystals can be color-treated to create new hues and color combinations. Quartz is the most common and cheapest crystal for color treatment, because of its clarity and neutral color. The best technique for dyeing quartz is called quench crackling, and it allows the normally non-porous quartz crystals to absorb dyes. This wonderful rug does have some issues due to it's age. Ther is a hole that needs to be repaired and several corner tassels are gone. It measures approx. 64''L x 37''W.
