The beauty here is in the holder! This oval, purse style perfume
holder is "Made in France," (marked on collar) and is covered
with light green and turquoise circles and leaves, both on the
cap and body. This Victorian bottle is c. 1900-1930s, and 2
others are in "Perfume Bottles for Purse and Dresser," V. Kocken,
c. 2006, pg. 69 (round version), and "More Miniature Perfume
Bottles," G. Bowman, c. 1996, pg. 148 (square version). On the
front are two red stones, prong set in a twisted rope bezel. The
center has the rope bezel, a brass bezel and a black stone with a
white bird having tiny copper colored strips for feathers. Below
the bird is a tiny white flower with a yellow center. The cap is
done the same, red stone on top, but there is no bird. There are
2 brass eyes, one on the cap and one on the back of the holder,
where a chain was attached (missing now). The back is done in
a tiny diagonal design; on the bottom is another red stone, same
set, and along the sides are curves and swirls in the brass. The
tiny vial is intact, with dauber and top, however, it is stuck
closed. Dimensions: 2-3/8 high, 1-1/8 wide, 5/8 deep. Glass
vial is 2-1/8 x 3/8. There is some brass wear on the back, as
mentioned the chain is gone, but the overall condition is very
good, no damage is apparent, and everything fits fine.
