Vintage Antique Adone Kurumba Tri-colored Antelope Headcrest from the Proctor Collection. This Mask measures approx. 35"L x 8"W. The Kurumba people live in the north of Burkina Faso. They cultivate millet and cotton, and rear cattle in the savanna regions. The Kurumba produce a mask headdress in the form of an antelope head. The headdress represents 'Yirige', the mystical antelope and the cultural hero, who drove away evil spirits at the first tilling of the land and cultivation and brought fertility with him.
