This old grograin black ribbon holds its original locket that has a very handsome gentleman?s photo inside. The locket has 2 colors of gold ( tests at 9 kt) and has BRIGHT faceted rhinestones ( also called paste). The ribbon may have had at one time, gold metal ends attached to the gro grain ribbon, but now it is tied. I have seen the ends on Ebay so you could replace them back to its original condition, but it is so long it will easily fit over your head. The length of the ribbon is 26" long and the lovely Victorian / deco locket is 1 1/3" long. Inside it is marked B mfg Co on two places of the original pink gold filled ring that holds the photo in. The one side has some sort of textured material? that resembles the base for guilloche enamel before it is poured. I think this side would have held the hair. I have not taken the ring out so I don?t know what is under it. This has the sleeve that goes over the photo to protect it on the photo side. Both rings to hold them in are original and intact. This is a lovely locket which is in great condition on the outside and has gentle wear on the inside edges . This is a highly detailed locket that is more rose color than yellow. Looks like it belonged to this gentleman?s sweetheart or wife and it is just amazing to me how something this old has survived so well. I hope it gets a home where it will be loved as it was originally intended.
