Influential radical labor leader (1876–1929) as a prominent Wobbly organizer, targeted by the Pinkertons, mining federations, and the anti-labor press. TLS signed “Vincent St. John,” one page, 8.5 x 11, Industrial Workers of the World letterhead, August 24, 1909. Letter to a "Fellow Worker," D. E. Dunbar, in part: "I am mailing you under separate cover, three back numbers of the 'Worker' among which may be the number which you require. I hope that the papers succeed in getting by Mrs. Dunbar's blockade and that one of them will prove to be the number with the article that you want to get. Your article in the Wage Slave of the 14th inst. was read with pleasure. The tendency manifested in the S. P. towards Industrial Unionism is as you say, beginning to be quite marked. However, I do not believe that it will be possible for the Industrial Unionists inside the Socialist Party or those who are stock-holders in any of the publications to get ahold of the machinery, either of the organization or the management of the publication—at least, not for some time to come." In fine condition, with light edge toning.
