This oil painting was created around 1920 by German painter Viktor Schivert, who was born in Romania. It depicts a female nude sitting on a rock at the sea. The young woman supports her head with one arm, looking wistfully into the distance. Viktor Schivert painted various images of female nudes that he prefers to place in front of romantic and idyllic backgrounds or interiors.



This painting is signed and inscribed lower right right ‘V. Schivert. Mn.‘ (Munich). It is in an age appropriate good condition showing few signs of age (surface dirt) and some retouching here and there. The frame indicates slight traces of use as well. The stretcher measures 65 x 54.5 cm. The overall framed dimensions are 83 x 72 cm.



Viktor Schivert (1863-1926)

Viktor Schivert was born 1863 in Jassy, Romania. He was the son of court photographer and painter Albert Schivers and studied at the Academy in Graz, Austria as well as under Otto Seitz in Munich. A popular motif in his oeuvre was the representation of female nudes that he preferably placed in front of romantic idyllic backgrounds or interiors.
