<td width="100%">
15th Century Vietnamese Ceramic Blue and White Covered Box, with a bamboo grove motif on its lid. From the Hoi An Hoard, Butterfields?s auction. Box has the Hoi An Hoard identification tag on bottom, proof of its provenance. A few minor chips to the rim. Artistic quality of the bamboo motif on the lid separates this from many of the other boxes that were auctioned off at the time. The Hoi An was a Vietnamese or Thai ship that sank off the Vietnamese coast around 1500 with many blue and white Vietnamese ceramic trade goods in its hold, probably destined for the Indonesian market. Height: 2 inches (5 cm), Diameter 2.5 inches (6.5 cm). Very Good Condition.
