Queen Victoria authorized theDepartment of Science and Art to copy the finest armor in the Tower armory and her Royal collections during the 19th century. The armors were sold to museums worldwide and offered to private students and collectors. These meticulousand finely made copies were pricey for their times and cost more than a fine engraved Colt or Winchester by multiples. Armor was rare even 150 years ago and an original helmet of this type would be prohibitively expensive if found.Victorian armor is increasing in value and this is a genuine antique that is extremely decorative.
