This very rare fine Sterling Silver ladies purse was made by R. Blackington & Co. of North Attleboro, Massachusetts that was founded in 1862. It contains three separate coin holders, a round hinged compartment, a hinged compartment in the middle that was possibly for matches and a cigarette holder with clip on the opposite side. It is marked on the edge with Sterling, the Blackington hallmark and the number 5679. The cigarette holder and underside of the middle hinged compartment cover has the number 120. This lovely piece has a chain link handle. Purse measures 3 1/2" X 2 5/8" and is about 7/8" thick. There are some minor dings here and there and it is monogrammed with fancy lettering. It weighs 146.1 grams or 4.7 troy ounces.
