Such a slim, dainty pencil!</em></td>

<td width="100%">
This pretty little Victorian pencil has either a crystal or a citrine stone set into the finial, engraved with the owner?s initials (can?t quite read them.. D.E something, can?t decipher the last one). The pencil is made in gold - no hallmarks or maker?s names, but it would have to be gold of some type - it is very slim and delicate, and has suffered a few little dings along the barrel over the years. The sliding retraction mechanism still works, although I haven?t been able to get a lead into it, as I think there is the remains of a lead still in there. Pencil measures 82 mm long when retracted, and 92 mm long when out. It is 4 mm diameter on the barrel (3.1/4 inches and 3.5/8 inches length, and 3/16 inch diameter). Circa mid to late 19th century.
