This Victorian period oil painting on canvas is of a young girl at the dining room table with her dog. The unconfirmed story by the previous owner of the painting is that the girl is South Dakota's Governor Elrod's daughter. Samuel Elrod was governor during 1905-1907 period and from the Northeast area of South Dakota. The period frame is signed "Virginia Blake"(Artist or Owner?) in pencil on the back. This 24" by 18" original painting is framed in a 29-3/4" by 23-3/4" wood frame. Painting and frames in good condition; no holes or rips in painting and frame has some minor chipping. A nice American Victorian child and dog oil painting.
