Gorgeous Victorian mourning brooch made of rolled gold and black enamel accentuated with diamonds. The beautiful classical scrollwork is raised and detailed. The centre is in high relief having a pair of intertwined flowers whose heads are filled with diamonds. It measures a very impressive 2 ¼ inches by 1-¾ inches, it has the original c catch working closure and glass compartment, which still holds locks of hair. There was a loop on the back for a safety chain, which is worn in the centre. One tiny portion of the raised gold work is missing with a very minute shallow chip to the black enamel under a flower, which is seen through a jeweler?s loop-definitely not detracting but stated for accuracy, otherwise just fine. This is a high quality memorial brooch is seldom found. Beautiful to wear and enjoy adding to your collection of Victorian mourning jewelryIf you enjoy collecting antique lace and linens, barkcloth, all things roses, Harrison Fisher prints, Shabby Chic, Romantic Cottage and Paris Apartment décor , you may wish to bookmark us since we list often.
