Here is an absolutely stunning berry set from the 19th century in a glorious fitted box. The box has a dark leather exterior with a simple gold gilding band. The interior is a deep cranberry with a velvet base and a satin lining in the lid. There is a gold embossed leather label with the sellers name and address and it reads ? Daniel Todd 8 & 9 Arcyle & Arcade Clascow. The utensils/serving pieces are all heavily embossed in the bowl area with fruits and flowers. The handles are mother-of-pearl and the silver is not marked so whether it is sterling or silver plate I am unsure however the one thing I am sure of is it is absolutely magnificent. The set would be so grand for serving at the well set table and exciting enough to make an exceptionable wedding gift. I am assuming that it does date from the late 1800?s and the very newest with be very very early 1900?s. The condition is excellent! The box exterior has the proper amount of wear. The box measures 11 5/8? x 9 ¼? x 1 5/8?. The two large spoons are 9 1/8? long x 1 7/8? at widest. The two smaller spoons are 6 3/8? long x 1 ½? at widest and the server is 7 3/8? long x 1 ¼? at widest.
